If your expatriation was not just a change of country, but the beginning of an even deeper internal journey? Being an expat, or becoming an expat mother, is both exciting and upsetting. Between expatriation, family and desire for a project that makes sense, it is easy to get lost on the way. Yet every stage of this journey can become an opportunity for personal development and profound transformation.
In this article, I share the 7 key stages of the internal journey expatpreneur moms. Maybe you'll recognize yourself, maybe you'll find yourself on the way...
Step 1 of the inner journey: awareness or wake up call
It all starts with a click. That moment when you realize something has to change. You feel that your joy, your energy or your momentum of life have been extinguished, and that continuing so is no longer possible.
Awareness is recognize and accommodate the need for transformation.
"Insanity is always doing the same thing and waiting for a different result." – Albert Einstein
Often my clients say to me, "I felt that if I didn't change anything, I would eventually turn off. » This moment can frighten, but it is also the starting point something bigger.
❊ You wonder if you're going through an awareness, so look: "Do you feel more tired than happy? Do you continue out of habit rather than out of envy? These signs are often the beginning of your inner journey."
Step 2: Introspection, "back to self"
After this wake up call, comes the time to slow down and turn your gaze inside: listen to your needs, your thoughts, your emotions. One return to you, where you learn to love without conditions.
This step is an invitation to find your Inner compassto reconnect with what really matters to you. In this journey, knowledge of 6 internal intelligences can become a valuable guide to your personal transformation.
Carl Gustav Jung said:
"He who looks outside dreams. The one looking inside wakes up."
Research in positive psychology (Seligman, 2004) confirms that taking time to reflect on his experiences, emotions and needs increases clarity and well-being.
But beyond theory, it is also very concrete. Many expat moms that by taking care of others, children, spouses, organization of the daily, they forgotten to listen to themselves.
❊ Introspection is not necessarily a great spiritual journey. Sometimes, it's just agreeing to stop, take a notebook, and write: "What do I really feel today?"
It is in this simplicity that the true inner journey begins.

Step 3: Release, Release and Renew »
On this path, it is necessary to Release the weight of the past. To grieve for experiences that have been experienced other than hoped, and to open the door of forgiveness.
Liberation is give yourself the chance to a new start A release from internal blockages and emotional liberation that lightens your heart and mind.
Like when you prepared your expat life: sorting things to keep, give, sell or throw away. Then you came to the place and put your luggage down with a feeling of relief, excitement, but also fears of the unknown.
I accompanied a client who couldn't move forward because she was still hanging on to a past failure. The day she got agreed to let go This story, it regained energy and freedom to move forward.
❊ And you, "what are you still wearing that prevents you from fully experiencing your personal transformation as an expat woman?"
Step 4: acceptance, "go with the flow »
After liberation, comes Acceptance. Accept what has been, welcome what is, and learn to dance with the flow of life rather than fight it.
Acceptance is to find the internal peace in the movement of daily life. You open up to a new reading of events, softer, more fluid. It is no longer a struggle, but a personal realignment.
You choose to trust life, and leave space for more inner freedom.
It is a silent but powerful phase, in which resistance relaxes, and where the heart opens to what is.
Eckhart Tolle writes:
"To accept is not to give up, it is to choose to live."
❊ When a situation seems difficult, instead of asking yourself "Why does it happen?", try to ask yourself "How can I accommodate this differently?". This little perspective switch opens the door to more inner peace.
Step 5: Transformation, "Create your path »
It's the heart of your journey. Reveal your uniqueness, clarify what you really want to create, then take actions aligned with your truth. Here, your project takes shape and your energy regains its vital momentum.
You enter into a dynamic of creating activity or project aligned to which you are deeply. It is often at this stage that a real clear vision emerges, the one that guides your emerging female entrepreneurship.
Transformation is becoming creating your own reality.
Neuroscience studies show that taking small concrete and repeated actions creates new neuronal connections (concept of neuroplasticity). In other words: every little step counts.
❊ Ask yourself, "What little aligned action can bring me closer to my vision? ». Then choose a micro-action that you can pose today (send a message, write an idea, dare say no).
Step 6: integration, "Own your being »
Once the new awareness has been raised, it is time for anchor in your daily life. You get the fruits of your way, you stabilize your new habits and you embody the one you really are.
Integration is artfully inhabit your new version of you.
You're beginning to feel a new stability, a form of joy to create on a daily basis. You assert your new entrepreneurial identity, and you install the habits that support your balance as an expatriate woman and as a mother.
❊ To help you install your new routines, ask yourself this question: "What helps me stay connected to the woman I become? ». Choose your ritual (meditation, journaling, conscious walking) and put it in place with kindness towards yourself.
Step 7: Evolution, "Shine and rise »
Finally, you are entering a new phase: that of radiation. You act in conscience, discipline, and you naturally contribute to the world from your "I AM".
Evolution is to shine effortlessly, inspire and contribute from your deep being.
Brené Brown, American researcher on vulnerability, says:
"What makes us vulnerable makes us so powerful."
When you dare fully embody who you are, your radiation becomes natural.
❊ "How can my influence inspire or support other female expats?" This question helps to realize that your inner journey nourishes both your personal life (by giving confidence and serenity) and your business (by attracting authentically those who recognize themselves in your energy).
